Mobile Application Acceleration

More and more users are watching videos, accessing content and playing games on their mobile devices. While high-performance, multi-core processors improve the user experience, the instability of mobile networks can still cause slow response and poor performance compared to a wired network. AppEx Learning-Based Acceleration™ can improve the wireless network conditions, and significantly improve the usability of applications for mobile users.

Optimizes mobile connections | Accelerates mobile access to content

Mobile devices today offer a stunning range of capabilities and functionality and are quickly becoming the main way that many people access content. But mobile downloads can quickly become an exercise in frustration when the network performance is poor. AppEx learning-based acceleration is ideally suited to mobile apps because it looks at all network performance factors to fine tune the flow control and maximize content download performance.

TCP was originally designed for wired networks, not wireless. With wireless connections, each TCP session flow has different latency characteristics, such as size, jitter, distance, device diversity, and others. And those characteristics can change quickly during a session if the user is moving from one cell tower to another.

AppEx Learning-Based Acceleration™ achieves an unmatched level of TCP-based performance for mobile users through its learning-based algorithms that use real-time measurements to monitor traffic conditions as a way of maximizing effective throughput, while avoiding congestion and data loss. It takes into account an awareness of user location, application and device to dynamically set initial tuning parameters on a session-by-session basis.

Use Cases:

  • Deploy LotWAN appliance in front of Web applications that have mobile access from SmartPhones and Tablets
  • Install LotServer in web/application servers that have mobile access
  • Install LotServer in CDN servers to accelerate the last mile to mobile users
  • Streaming content to smart phones and tablets
  • API interfaces (Application to Application communication)
